This series will give you a quick intro to talking to kids about race and equity. Know that you are taking a step in the right direction, because talking about race is important, because NOT talking about race can actually make us MORE biased, so thanks for jumping in with me.
Here’s what you’ll get in this four-part series:
Part 1 will give you the framework for raising equity and the definitions to common terms and groups related to race. I’ll also go over the systems that create the disparities that we see, and I’ll end with some common fears worth navigating.
Part 2 will give you suggestions about how you might respond to on the spot or unexpected questions or comments related to race.
Part 3 will give you suggestions about what you need to be teaching over time
Part 4 will give you ideas about how you can model equity for kids and walk the walk
